Huntsman Q2 2026: Olin Merger Dominates Narrative as MDI Demand Remains Subdued and Spray Foam Posts Low Double-Digit Growth
Huntsman's Q2 2026 earnings call was dominated by the announced merger with Olin Corporation, with management articulating $300 million in identified synergies plus an additional $100 million from chlorine internalization, framing the combined entity as structurally superior regardless of end-market conditions. MDI demand remains the central constraint — management characterizes global capacity utilization in the mid-80s with demand growing at 0–2%, well below the historical 4–6% annual rate that would tighten the market. Advanced Materials delivered 8% volume growth driven by power grid and aerospace recovery, while polyurethanes grew 4%, both outpacing underlying end markets on the back of innovation-led downstream derivatization.
